Petition to Obama: Review Raids Policies
Published January 11, 2009 @ 08:10PM PT
As the Bush administration winds down, officials have emitted a flurry of midnight regulations, carefully timed so that the incoming administration can't easily undo them.
Duke at the Sanctuary points out two of these last-minute rules coming from DHS:
- restricting immigrants' right to effective counsel in court and
- expanding the use of forcible DNA collection from noncitizens.
Duke also directs us to a petition started by the Working Rights Group asking President Elect Obama to:
place a moratorium on current immigration enforcement practices in order to conduct a full review of DHS policies and programs to ensure that they are compliant with Constitutional protections and internationally recognized human rights standards.
Such a pause makes sense given what we know about the railroad justice at Postville, Iowa, the needless deaths in detention due to policies which breed neglect, and the contempt with which the Bush administration has viewed basic human rights concepts like due process of law.
Stepping back to review flawed immigration policies--those in the executive's discretion--is an essential step towards a government that respects human rights. Sign the petition!

Ok, some people might not like this, but here it goes, America is a beautiful place to get a great start, but illegal is illegal, if you want to enter this country, do it legally.
We have millions of illegal imigrants here, why? as a American citizen, I have that right to ask, because I see illegal imigrants come here, and want to live here and work here, but want to turn America into there little country they came from.
I do not see a flock of Americans trying to cross the boarder, effect change in your country, we will take care of ours.

My granddaddy Buford used to say the same thing. Those immigrants never learn do they? I remember him complaneing bout them Eye-talians moving into Little Italy. They did not want to learn to be Americun like you and me Ronnie. Or how bout them Greeks in Greektown or the Chinese in Chinatown? This is America so why cant they just be Americun like you and me? Why can they live in Americatown? and why do the Jewish people still learn their language and practice their customs? This is America and they shuld learn to be Americun!!!

Ronnie, I agree about the boarders. I see I have a kindred spirit here wit me today.
Sum smart mouth liberal tried to tell me "hey minute man dont you know that "boarders" are renters?" I said yeah like tell me sumthing I dont already know.We all know that the boarders hoppers are renters so whats the point? Duh.
We never cross the boarder to effect change. Not in Iraq. Not in Vietnam and never in Latin America. You will never see us there leading coups and assasinating elected Presidents and installing dictators in places like Chile. Heck no cuz we are freedumb luving folks. we dont make international trade agreements that only benefit the global corporates. We dont cross any boarders to effect change and create the gloabal environment where these ellegulls need to migrate here for survival. Cuz we are Americuns.

Is this the door where all the elligulls need to line up at in the back of the line? So once we find out where this door is at we can figure out where the line is at as well. Thanks Glenda.

People are not illegal. And you can't stop people from trying to achieve a better life. They're not going to wait for the opportunity to arise if they can create that opportunity themselves.

First off, I am tired of everyone using the no one is illegal line. We get it. But immigrants that are here illegally do not have the right nor privilege to achieve the Amaerican Dream. That is only for the law abiding U.S citizen. We do have the right to deny them that.
