Nativist Tom Tancredo Chased off MSNBC
Published November 07, 2009 @ 08:00AM PT
While arguing over health care, former Congressperson and wanna-be President-hopeful Tom Tancredo was chased off MSNBC in this priceless video whilst 'debating' Markos Moulitsas of Daily Kos.
It's just as well that Tancredo saved some face and left after Markos pointed out how Tancredo was a pro-Vietnam War chickenhawk who got a 1-Y deferment. Given his rabid anti-immigrant views, if he had stayed on the show longer, it would have turned into another unworthy "illegal immigrants are taking over America" rant.
Just earlier this year, students shut down his anti-immigrant tirades at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Tancredo and his bandwagon of hate responded by slandering Dream Act students and blaming them for causing violence. Never mind that someone only threw a brick at the window and the person wasn't undocumented.
Tom Tancredo believes that it is completely fine to use Holocaust photos at rallies to oppose health care reform but college students who testify for the DREAM Act must be arrested and detained. He is now using the Fort Hood tragedy to make claims about a 'Muslim Mafia' attacking the United States domestically.
It's always good to see someone take Tom down a few more notches. Thanks for the comic relief Tancredo!

As usual, your writing lacks any true sense of actual fact. You rely to much on others opinions.

Might I suggest you use the Late Update from TPM.
Late Update: The original version of this post reported that former Rep. Tancredo (R) said that it was a appropriate for Tea Party protestors to carry Holocaust imagery to dramatize the horrors of health care reform. He did answer "you bet" to the question of whether it was appropriate to use such images. However, further review of the videotape makes us think this answer was a product of confusion in the crosstalk between Shuster and Tancredo. The latter seems to have thought he was answering a different question. And understood in this context, "you bet" meant he thought it was inappropriate. Tancredo said plenty of crazy stuff in the interview. But we don't think he meant to defend the use of such imagery.

That link is Gheen making statements, NOT Tancredo. It also states "supporters", "Free speech was silenced on the campus of one of America's top universities by use of mob rule tactics by illegal alien and Dream Act supporters."

A 1-Y deferment still qualified Tancredo to serve, but only in a national emergency. This is no different than Bill Clinton getting a 1-D deferment to go into the Reserves without going to Vietnam.
Maybe Markos should get his words figured out, since the only way progressives can control anything is with hate towards those for whom they disagree ideologically with. You know Prerna, its like you deleting my comments simply because you can not refute me, you use your own prejudice to attempt to control my comments while you let others use the very same words, then you attempt to threaten me with getting me banned. If anything you should welcome differing opinions, you should learn to make better arguments based on them. Now, moderate away!!

He is now using the Fort Hood tragedy to make claims about a 'Muslim Mafia' attacking the United States domestically.
Do you actually read the articles of which you link? Tancredo's article is a about a book called "Muslim Mafia" written by investigative reporters David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry, who have national security backgrounds and solid reputations. It is about the Islamic Relations in the USA, not about the Fort Hood incident.
He simply is questioning "what if" the authors are correct, But if the authors of this book are correct, we face a far larger problem than these foreign-trained terrorists. We may well be growing and training our own brand of domestic terrorists who know how to destroy our nation from within.

tom tancredo is correct in his assessment of the threats to this country. I am no longer a democrat because they have become left-wing dominated and irrational. The right-wing republlicans also do not represent me, nor the majority of americans. I do not believe tom tancredo is prejudiced, but is attempting to wake people up who have been brainwashed into political correctness ( which of course is incorrect!) many of the european countries are being destroyed fropm within.we need to recognize that there are extremist madrasas right here in the US. Proof exists in the form of videos, and translations from arabic.

One other note about the 1-Y deferment. It was the doctor at Tancredo's physical that gave the deferment, it was not Tancredo asking for it, he had to answer the questions asked of him by the doctor and if found later to have lied could be held liable to UCMJ action.
This is in no way like Bill Clinton getting his deferment based on his 2-S, then putting off his pre-induction physical for over 10.5 months, or to have his own uncle lobbying the states Senator to place Bill in the Navy Reserves. Bill received a standard enlisted mans billet, not an officer's slot which would have required Clinton to serve two years on active duty beginning within 12 months of his acceptance. This Navy Reserve assignment was "created especially for the Bill Clinton at a time in 1968 when no existing reserve slots were open in his hometown unit."
Markos's sole intent was to demean Tancredo by exploiting his clinical depression that an military doctor deemed enough to defer Tancredo.

You fail to see your own inciting of a "climate of hate" by ignorant remarks in an article written that you quiet simply failed to properly research. Maybe you should ask for you college education money back, you were simply cheated out of it.

Keep commenting. Alas, I can't demand money back for my education since it didn't cost me anything. Have a good day!

It's sad and wrong to try to silence anybody or hamper their freedom of speech, however wrong. The Ft. Hood Massacre shows that it's right to be xeno when it comes to Muslims immigrating to the U.S., but that doesn't carry over to our next-door neighbors in Mexico, who have been the victims of 160 years of systematic apartheid by white supremacists in the U.S. and deserve to have their existence accepted. Haha.
Finally, someone who proudly admits how it is alright to be xenophobic towards some but not others. I like you. You are at least honest about your biases.

hahaha what a coward running away from a decent discussion..
This Clown Tancredo tried to boycott the Authentic Salvadoran Elections by threatening to use his influence in congress to stop all financial aid and family Remittances if the left wing Party win Elections. Apparently this help in 2004 Salvadoran Elections raising fear in people's mind since many families depends on remittances

It's good to have the xenophobic Tom Tancredo chased off MSNBC. It's also good that university students at the University of North Carolina shut down his intolerant workings there. The DREAM Act must become law during President Obama's first term without exception so that the young who have accomplished may accomplish more. Tom Tancredo is an intolerant conservative, especially racist for justifying the use of the word "Muslim Mafia".
